Tim Dog Dead at 46
The hip-hop community is mourning the loss and showing love for New York rapper Tim Dog. According to the Source, the veteran Bronx emcee died on Valentine’s Day from a seizure following a lengthy bout with diabetes. He was 46 years old.
Tim Dog (real name Timothy Blair) will be remembered for his controversial 1991 song ‘F— Compton,’ in which he dissed N.W.A. and Dr. Dre. The abrasive track appeared on Tim Dog’s debut LP ‘Penicillin on Wax,’ which is considered a classic to many. Tim even dissed Snoop Dogg with the single, ‘B—- Wid a Perm.’
In 1993, Tim Dog released the sophomore album ‘Do or Die,’ which boasts the hardcore banger, ‘I Get Wrecked’ (featuring KRS-One). In 1996, he teamed up with Ultramagnetic MC’s rapper Kool Keith to form the rap tandem Ultra and released their only album ‘Big Time.’
Before his untimely death, Tim Dog was accused of conning several woman out of thousands of dollars in an online scam. The rapper was exposed in a June 2012 episode of NBC’s Dateline of courting women and persuading them to invest in a greatest hits album that never materialized. In 2011, Tim Dog pleaded guilty in Mississippi for grand larceny for swindling Esther Pilgrim out of $32,000. He was sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to pay back Pilgrim $19,000.
On Twitter, the hip-hop community mourned the loss of another fallen rap icon. “I’m crushed. RIP Tim Dog. The only rapper I’m bold enough to say changed my life. Penicillin on Wax is my fav rap LP of all time. Terrible,” tweeted veteran producer J-Zone.
“R.I.P. TIM DOG THE ONLY ONE THAT STOOD UP FOR ME!!!” wrote Pump it Up veejay Dee Barnes, who was the catalyst for Tim Dog’s ‘F— Compton’ diss song after she was viciously attacked by Dr. Dre.
